This past weekend we had an amazing opportunity to go on a ski trip with some of our students. I was pumped when they asked me to be one of the chaperones of their trip because I have always wanted to go skiing in Korea. We haven't gone skiing in the past because we had been preoccupied with basketball, grad school, pregnancy, and fear that Tom wouldn't find boots big enough. So this was our one shining moment to make skiing happen.
I was able to help put Everett to sleep for the night on Friday and then I left around 9pm to catch the bus with our students to head to the resort. Tom woke up early on Saturday (5am--yikes) and drove with Everett to the resort that morning after Big E had a good night's sleep. It was my first night away from Everett and I was surprisingly calm about it. Tom on the other hand was a bit more unsettled about the whole thing but he was great (as I knew he would be).
The resort was incredible (not Colorado incredible, but cool none the less) and was about 2.5 hours from our apartment. The area we skied at will be the future site of the 2018 Olympic Games. It was a really beautiful area with some pretty good skiing. The runs were better than I thought they would be, and I had a GREAT time playing outside.
On Saturday I skied in the morning and Tom skied after lunch (he found big enough boots--yeahhhhh!). Then our teacher friend, Elise (see below), watched Everett for an hour so Tom and I could ski together.
Everett also got to rock his awesome snowsuit over the weekend.
Then after we put our sleepy baby to bed on Saturday night I got to go out for a few more hours of night skiing! I was a bit leery of this because I thought it would be hard to see and icy, but in fact I think the conditions were a bit better than during the day. I ended up skiing until 10pm (it closed at 12:30) and was completely WIPED OUT. But it was worth it...even if I am still sore two days later.
Sunday morning we headed out around breakfast time and got home in time for lunch. I'm so thankful for our skiing experience. I loved it. And what would a post be without some new Everett pics??? Here are a few so you can see what E did while we skied.
Our little buddy is crawling!!! Video to come soon...
