Our First Korean Wedding

This weekend Bonnie, Everett, and I got to go to our first Korean wedding.  We have been invited to several others but we could never attend.  This was the wedding of two folks that both work at our school (first time this has happened) so it was a momentous occasion.

Korean weddings and receptions are typically held in special wedding halls.  They are stacked up back to back so there is usually a ton of activity in the hall and people from different wedding parties are constantly intermixing.  The reception hall is just one big banquet room so the folks at the 1PM wedding eat with the folks form the 2PM wedding.

The ride up on the school bus.  E liked the coolness of the window.

The groom bowing to thank us for coming.  The video board behind the wedding official was a little distracting.

The Bride keeping herself composed.  It kind of felt like a runway show because the aisle was an elevated catwalk.

Proud parents

E is thrilled by it all.

There was definitely a different ambiance than a traditional "American" wedding.

It is not an uncommon site to see folks on their cellphones throughout the service.

The happy newlyweds.

Me and E kickin' it.  Notice how the tie matches his vest?

All the folks in this pic work at our school.  There were 50 or 60 of us there.

Reception food.  E snoozed through lunch.

It was a great experience and we are so happy for our friends Risa and Hong.  The lucky newlyweds are honeymooning in France and Spain.
