Bonnie and I celebrated 5 years on marriage on July 1st. Since I had a lot of family coming in town on the 1st we actually celebrated on June 29th. First we went to the Nelson-Atkins art museum near the Plaza in KC. We thought this wax figure old man was an interesting character:
I thought I would add to the trend.
Bonnie contemplating the deeper meaning of...
Us enjoying a break from the walking in the museum's fountain courtyard. We really liked this because it gave the sense that you were outside but actually were not.
The famous shuttlecocks on the museum's front lawn.
This was a new addition to the outdoor section of the museum. We thought it looked like a tree straight out of a Harry Potter movie.
After our time at the museum we went and checked in at our bead and breakfast. This place was a 3 minute walk from the plaza and was a definite win. When we checked in they had Hors d'œuvres set out along with wine.
Our room was nice and had its own balcony as a special feature.
We then went out for dinner at Figlio's which is a tasty little Italian place.
Strolling around the Plaza enjoying the beautiful evening
Rather than doing the customary restaurant dessert item we decided to head to Winstead's for some shakes. So good!
When we got back to the B&B they had provided some sherry and cookies for an evening snack.
We capped our anniversary celebration off with breakfast at the B&B which was awesome. Bonnie loved this thing. It was half a peach topped with some sort of sugary oat mixture and then baked to a state of peach mushiness and oat crunchiness. I took one bite, swallowed reluctantly, and passed mine across the table.
The main breakfast course as a veggie frittata and sausage links. I love sausage and the frittata thing was pretty good too.
Overall it was a great time celebrating 5 great years with one great woman.
