Prayer Request from Nepal

We just received this e-mail. It is just another example of the crazy country that is Nepal.

"MountainChild needs prayer covering in Nepal. There is currently an uprising by the Maoist people. These people are demanding and use violence as a way to get their requests accepted. They have moved into Kathmandu and closed all the schools indefinitely, including the RANCH kids school. They have already gone to their (The RANCH kids) school and demanded that the school house and feed 500 of the Maoist members. This is becoming prevalent as the group begins to bring thousands down from the mountains.
The group has been moving through the city demanding money from every person and 1 person from every household to join their group. There is no saying "NO" as they will resort to violence to make people comply. They have also called an indefinite strike for transportation and shops. Jo is stocking up 2 months worth of food for the kids at the RANCH to ensure they do not run out as the strike starts Sunday.
The fear is that the group will head to the areas where the Guest House and RANCH are and demand that some members be housed and fed there as well as require people to join their group. Please be praying for the safety of all the kids and staff members, that the Maoists do not overrun the area where the Guest House and RANCH are, and that they do not ask for money or people from us. Please also be praying for the safety of Jo and Josiah. Since Jo is a foreigner, if she gets stopped by the Maoists, they will think she has lots of money which could lead to other things."

RANCH = the children's home we work with in Nepal
Jo = the British woman who runs it with her husband
