The Nepali People

Our team of 20 was broken down into groups of 4. Each group had at least two local guides to help us trek and translate while on our journey. The man on the left was Surya, one of our guides. He is pictured here with a man we met while walking around. Although we were told they were becoming "outdated" many men wore the traditional hats that the older gentleman on the right is wearing. The second picture is of the other local guides.

Another picture of Surya, our guide. He put Mickey Mouse stickers on his ears for the pic. Whenever we went to villages we handed out stickers to the kids. They love them!

This woman was one of the few Christians we met on our trekking trip. Most Nepali's are Hindu or Buddhist. Less than 2% are Christian. This woman's family became Christians when her mother was miraculously healed by people praying in the name of Jesus.

The older man above is really drunk in this picture. We stayed in his village the same day as one of their festivals so all the older men were drinking heavily. While in this village I stayed in a room with the two girls from our group and while the three of us where hanging out this drunk man came into our room and just sat down on my bed and starred at us. It was quite funny/unsettling. Luckily our guides were near by and they asked him to get out.

Sandesh was our other guide and we spent one night at his village, which is very remote and does not have electricity. Here is a picture of his mom making us dinner (Sandesh is the guy on the top right corner).

Sandesh's church gave his village a stretcher. The village was really excited about this so they would have a way to transport the sick. Above is Sandesh's nephew and a picture of our group with Sandesh's family.

To close I'll leave you with this picture....I think it's hilarious how much taller Tom is than the guides!!!
