After we left the Pro Football Hall of Fame we headed to Canada. The drive to the Canadian/US border wasn't too bad of a drive but when we got near the border crossing things really slowed down. We were within less than a mile of our final destination and had to wait thirty minutes in the car to get through the border. At this point we were resorting to extreme measures for entertainment.
The picture below was taken from the balcony at our hotel. We were so close to the falls (you can see them just behind the bridge)! Despite the proximity and views, our hotel was a bit of a bust (picture an old, dated, tacky-tourist hotel decorated in pastels) but we were only there for an evening and the following morning so we managed just fine.
While at the Falls we did a ton of walking and took in the scenery. It really is so beautiful and brilliantly HUGE.![]() |

We left the falls around lunch time and started to look for a park to picnic at before we left for the Toronto area to meet up with some friends. We were told there was a park near the Falls but when we went to check it out it was going to be $10 bucks to park! No way! So we started looking for other options and followed Google Maps to an area that said "Recreational Complex." We thought that sounded promising and we totally SCORED! Picture a mostly empty (FREE) park with a new toddler friendly playground and splash park! To say Everett had a blast would be an understatement.
Since we still had driving to do and our bags were already packed we just had E play in the splash park in a swim diaper. We called it his speedo. He didn't seem to mind.
Everett started to get super sleepy while at the splash park. We caught him just sitting near one of the fountains rather than running around, which never happens, so we decided it was time to go. He instantly crashed in the car and woke up just in time for us to arrive in Ajax, Ontario (suburb of Toronto) where we stayed with some friends.
We would for sure recommend seeing the Falls to others. We had a great time! The Canadian side of the Falls has great views but beware that it can have a bit of a touristy feel that includes things like "Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum", numerous wax museums, and Guinness Book of World Records exhibit. Don't say we didn't warn you.
