The first leg of our road trip this summer was from KC to Columbus, OH. We started dark and early (5:15 to be exact).
The plan was for Everett to finish sleeping while we drove in the dark. He had other plans. He just decided to wake up. Here he is cheesing it up and laughing at the silly plan we dreamt up.
We wanted to try to do this trip on the cheap as much as possible so we planned to do breakfast and lunch picnic style. As a result our first big break from driving was a picnic lunch in Effingham, IL.
After lunch we continued our drive and got into Columbus a little before dinner time. Everett wanted to help get our bags to our room so he pushed.
Bonnie got in touch with a friend on our drive and we arranged to meet up with her at a tasty German place in Columbus called Schmidt's
| I love German food! |
| E didn't like the head hole so he hung out above the beer. |
| Bonnie's friend Terra. |
The next morning we got back on the road and made our way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH. But first we had to make a stop at a Canadian staple that seems to have trickled south of the boarder, Tim Hortons.
| Had to rep the Chiefs at the HOF! |
| E getting used to how they feel. |
| The Lombardi Trophy that will go to this year's Super Bowl champion. |
| E compared to an NFL lineman's leg. |
| The room displaying the busts of all the HOF inducties was pretty awesome. |
| Chiefs! |
| More Chiefs love. |
After a fun time at the HOF we headed to a nearby park for another lunch and then got on our way. E was a big fan of this park because it had a stream running through it.
Next stop... Niagara Falls!
