i've done that before in Insadong! it relieved a whole lot of stress to hammer out some rice. LOL! i've never seen this done at the grocery store though! awesome.
The kids got to do that at the games for Korean culture week this year! They took a massive pile of rice and pounded it for an hour...it is how they make ddeok (ricecake) supposedly. That is really funny to see in the grocery store, though! haha especially for people who've never been to Korea. :)
